About the Designer
Born in Florence in 1940, Roberto Cavalli launched his label in 1970 after patenting an innovative printing process on leather that drew early commissions from Hermès and Pierre Cardin. His eyewear, produced by Marcolin beginning in 1998, carried the same DNA as his clothing — animal prints, rhinestone temple details, and a maximalist sensibility that made him one of the most recognizable Italian designers of the Y2K era. Cavalli died in Florence in April 2024.
